Company Profile

Pacific Bio-Fields Holdings Inc was established in 2008 to create a large-scale plantation and production facility for the production of coconut methyl ester biodiesel from coconuts.

Pacific Bio-Fields has had allocated to it on an exclusive basis by the Philippines Government 400,000-hectares of currently unused public lands, in Northern Luzon in the Philippines for planting and the necessary permits have been agreed with the Philippines' Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The plantation will cover a land area twice that of Tokyo and two and half times that of London.

Key Attributes

High-quality bio-diesel

Coconut biodiesel is categorised as the “highest-quality alternative diesel fuel” (Austrian Bio-Fuels Institute, March 2007). Vegetable oil-derived biodiesels are considered as carbon-neutral as they are not fossil-derived, having already absorbed CO2 through photosynthesis. In addition, minimal nitrogenous substances are generated and accordingly coconut biodiesel is a very clean alternative fuel.

Wasteland to productivity

Coconut trees can be grown successfully on land with a saline soil and also on areas classified as wasteland. Such lands are unsuitable for growing valuable food crops such as soybean, corn, sugar cane, and palm. This means that using coconuts to produce biodiesel avoids the problem of dislocating food production.

CO2 absorption

The plantation is expected to produce around 50,000 to 60,000 barrels of coconut biodiesel per year [when fully operational]. It will also make a significant contribution to global efforts to reduce CO2 levels since it will also absorb approximately 12,000,000 tons of CO2 per year.

Economic growth

The plantation will be situated in the northern-most region of the Philippines. The project will make a significant contribution to the economic growth of the region through investment, the creation of new jobs and the resulting economic development. The project will develop a new industry for the region which requires crop management, harvesting, crop processing and the construction of new copra crushing mills and a coconut biodiesel processing plant. Pacific will benefit the local community through long-term employment opportunities.

Our Business Model: from production to supply

The advantage of Pacific's business model is that it covers the entire lifecycle and processes of production, from coconut planting for the production of raw materials, to the refining of biodiesel for end-users. Furthermore, coconut products and by-products such as copra meal cake, activated carbon, unrefined coconut oil, and coconut meat, can be supplied as commodities to various customers worldwide.
