Efficient use of resources can help alleviate climate change, protect the environment, stimulate economic development, and ultimately improve people's lives. By converting to renewable energy governments and industries worldwide can create green jobs and a long-lasting global green economy where future generations can reap the benefits.
Pacific Bio-Fields aims to source and produce renewable fuels from coconuts which are sustainable, economic, and environmentally sound. Our business model, which encompasses the full lifecycle of the coconut biodiesel production process, is based on the plantation of coconuts on marginal land which ensures that the fuel crop does not compete with conventional food growth. Unlike fossil fuels, biodiesel is carbon-neutral and has a key role to play in reducing vehicle CO2 emissions. We also promote resource efficiency by maximizing the use of the coconut by-products to produce animal feed and activated carbon.
At the same time, we will enable governments and industries to comply with ever more stringent environmental legislations worldwide. In Europe, the EU Biofuels Directive for transport requires that 10% of vehicle fuels to come from biofuels by 2020. National regulation and incentives, too, are endorsing the use of sustainable biofuels. For example, Japan aims to save 500 million litres of crude oil per year through substitution by biofuels by 2010. In 2007 the Philippines increased the minimum compulsory blending rate of biofuels from 1% to 2% by 2009. Globally, the overarching legislation is the Kyoto Protocol. Environmental groups have proposed the inclusion of transport emissions into the post-2012 successor of Kyoto which, if adopted, would provide a huge boost for the biodiesel market worldwide.
At Pacific Bio-Fields we strive to facilitate the sustainable use of fuels and resources in all the key biodiesel geographical markets and beyond.
